fleas and flies

Old flies on the dashboard of the boat

It’s that time of year, fleas and flies both find their way to the boat. Some of the flies are invited, the fleas… not so much.

They aren’t actually fleas, but they are small dark bugs that attach themselves to the boat, your legs, and anywhere they can. Rumor has it that striped bass eat these bugs. Striped bass eat grreenhead flies as well.

Barnstable Harbor is all about the tides. Every trip is based on tide. Is the tide coming in, will the tide be going out? Incoming tides are especially susceptible to fleas and flies because the tide comes in the bugs can no longer cling to the grass. Any passing boat is an opportunity for resting. So hop on they do. And they bite!!!!

But really, on this boat we are all about the flies! Fishing with the flies. So come on out and check out what our flies can do!!!

BTW, this big engine can out run those fleas any day!!! 🙂
